Anne Michira named Group Marketing and Innovations Director at EABL

East African Breweries PLC has appointed Anne Joy Michira as Group Marketing and Innovations Director, bringing to the role nearly two decades of brand-building, portfolio strategy, and consumer marketing experience accumulated across some of Africa’s most competitive beverage and consumer goods markets.

Michira’s ascent to the group-level role is the product of a career built methodically across East Africa and beyond. She joins EABL’s top leadership table, having most recently served as Marketing and Innovations Director for South, West, and Central Africa at Diageo — EABL’s parent company — a London-based posting that sharpened her perspective on multi-market brand strategy at a continental scale. Before that, she held the Marketing and Innovations Director role for East Africa at EABL itself, overseeing a portfolio spanning beer and spirits across the region, and briefly served as Acting Marketing and Innovations Director at Kenya Breweries Limited.

Her earlier years at EABL saw her rise through a series of progressively senior roles — from Head of Marketing for Beer East Africa to Head of Spirits and Marketing Manager for Mainstream Spirits — during which she delivered measurable commercial results. Among the highlights of that period was guiding an innovation rollout on Kenya Cane, the country’s leading spirits brand, which produced 20 percent brand growth within six months of deployment.

Prior to joining the EABL family, Michira spent a decade at British American Tobacco, where she moved through trade marketing, key accounts management, and brand management, ultimately serving as Area Brand Manager for the Aspirational Premium segment. That foundation gave her a rigorous grounding in trade execution, agency management, consumer engagement, and resource allocation — competencies that have defined her leadership style across every subsequent role.

As Group Marketing and Innovations Director, Michira takes on responsibility for steering EABL’s brand portfolio and innovation agenda at the highest level, at a time when competition in East Africa’s beverages sector is intensifying and consumer preferences are shifting rapidly. Her appointment signals the organisation’s intent to place proven, regionally experienced leadership at the centre of its next phase of growth.
