MTN Group has launched MTN OneTV, a new digital entertainment platform designed to transform how Africans access and pay for video content, giving consumers greater flexibility, affordability, and choice in their viewing experience.
Introduced as part of MTN’s Ambition 2030 strategy, OneTV brings together local content, live television channels, international programming, and market-specific entertainment offerings tailored to the needs and consumption habits of audiences across Africa.
The platform offers flexible viewing models that may vary by country, including free-to-view content, advertising-supported experiences, pay-as-you-watch options, and subscription packages. MTN said the initiative is designed to give customers greater control over how they access entertainment while addressing one of the continent’s biggest streaming challenges—payment accessibility.
Depending on market availability, users can pay through airtime, Mobile Money (MoMo), and other locally supported payment methods, eliminating barriers faced by millions of consumers who lack access to credit cards or international payment systems.
Beyond serving viewers, MTN OneTV is expected to create new opportunities for African content creators, broadcasters, advertisers, and ecosystem partners by leveraging MTN’s extensive connectivity, payments, and digital services infrastructure to connect content with wider audiences.
The launch marks another step in MTN’s strategic evolution from a telecommunications provider into a broader digital platform business. It also builds on the company’s April 2025 partnership with Synamedia to develop a pan-African streaming platform, initially focused on Nigeria before expanding across MTN’s markets.

MTN enters an increasingly competitive streaming landscape alongside global players such as Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video, as well as several local platforms. However, the company believes its extensive distribution network, mobile money ecosystem, and localized content strategy position it to reach underserved audiences across the continent.
Commenting on the launch, Selorm Adadevoh, Chief Commercial, Strategy and Transformation Officer at MTN Group, said:
“Entertainment is increasingly becoming an important gateway to digital participation. Through MTN OneTV, we are leveraging the scale of our connectivity, fintech, and digital capabilities to make relevant content more accessible while creating new opportunities for Africa’s creative and digital economies. This is aligned with our ambition to deliver digital solutions for Africa’s progress.”
The rollout of MTN OneTV is ongoing, with content offerings and market availability expected to vary across countries as the platform expands throughout MTN’s African footprint.
