SCGN celebrates 20th Anniversary with gala and inaugural corporate governance awards

The Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria (SCGN) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a grand Gala and the debut of its Corporate Governance Awards in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event, a blend of elegance and reflection, honoured two decades of SCGN’s dedication to fostering ethical leadership and governance excellence across Nigeria’s corporate landscape.

The Gala convened prominent leaders, Fellows, and SCGN members to reflect on the organization’s transformative journey and its pivotal role in shaping governance standards. The evening’s highlight, the Maiden Corporate Governance Awards, recognized institutions and individuals for their outstanding contributions to transparency, accountability, and innovation, setting new benchmarks for governance in various sectors.

Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN, SCGN’s Founding President, delivered a heartfelt goodwill message, emphasizing the Society’s legacy. “Our Fellows embody ethical and responsible leadership. As we mark 20 years, we celebrate our progress with pride and renew our commitment to shaping a future driven by integrity,” he said.

In a significant announcement, SCGN launched its Pro Bono Initiative, a 20th-anniversary program offering free board advisory services to one small and medium enterprise (SME) and one non-profit organization (NPO). Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for SCGN’s support, lauding the Society’s leadership and milestone achievement.

The event not only celebrated SCGN’s past but also set the stage for its future, reinforcing its vision of a Nigeria anchored in integrity, sustainability, and responsible leadership
