Rahma Mwapachu Emerges as Marketingworld’s CMO Of the Week

Rahma Mwapachu, the Head of Marketing, Communications, and Corporate Affairs at NMB Bank Plc in Tanzania, has been named MarketingWorld’s CMO of the Week for February 17th – 23rd, 2025.

With over two decades of experience in marketing, communications, and corporate affairs, Rahma Mwapachu has carved a distinguished career in shaping brand narratives and corporate strategies. She currently serves as the Head of Marketing, Communications, and Corporate Affairs at NMB Bank Plc, a role she has held since August 2023.

 In this capacity, she leads integrated marketing efforts, corporate communication strategies, and stakeholder engagement initiatives that reinforce the bank’s market leadership and customer-centric approach.

Rahma’s strategic expertise extends beyond marketing, as she has played a pivotal role in NMB Bank’s Cost Efficiency Committee since 2019 and the Retail Management Committee since 2018. Her contributions in these committees underscore her ability to drive operational efficiencies and enhance retail banking strategies.

Before her tenure at NMB Bank, Rahma held key leadership positions in Tanzania’s telecom industry. She served as Marketing Manager – Brand & Communications at Airtel Tanzania from 2011 to 2013, where she spearheaded targeted Above-the-Line (ATL) and Below-the-Line (BTL) marketing initiatives to drive revenue growth.

Her earlier tenure at Vodacom Tanzania Plc from 2006 to 2010 saw her rise to the role of Head of Brand & Advertising, where she played an instrumental role in designing, developing, and launching next-generation product solutions for diverse consumer segments. Additionally, as Media & Advertising Manager, she was responsible for crafting and executing impactful media and advertising strategies.

Rahma’s extensive career also includes roles in media and promotions. From 2004 to 2006, she was the Sales & Marketing Manager at Red Promotions Limited, where she managed product sales, developed sponsorship proposals, and provided strategic insights for senior management. Her early career began in media marketing at East Africa Radio & East Africa Television, where she implemented marketing strategies, secured sponsorships, and coordinated media advertising campaigns.
