Nigeria: NIMN, LBS Partner on Capacity Building to Deepen Marketing Skills

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Lagos Business School (LBS) on capacity building that will enhance businesses and economic growth as well as driving research on data and diaspora investment.

The partnership was announced by the President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Idorenyen Enang at the institute’s head office in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to him, the marketing industry contributes largely to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country, adding that the entire estate that marketing as a profession is sitting on is huge.

Speaking on the partnership, he said the partnership with LBS is strategic and a perfect blend of expertise and innovation as it will enhance the entire business ecosystem and the economy at large.

“We are setting up what you would call NIMN diaspora and we are already putting a framework together. It’s about how our members and also marketers of Nigerian origin and African origin who are in diaspora, will be able to find a way to impact those back home,” he said.

The Chief Marketing Officer at LBS/Pan Atlantic University (PAU), Nsima Ogedi-Alakwe, said this partnership would transform the marketing profession in Nigeria, drive professionalism and ethical ways of doing business in the areas of research and capacity building, which will drive the growth that is desperately needed in the nation’s economy.

According to her, those who have left the country are gaining knowledge and transferring it to Nigeria, which she said is also drawing foreign partnerships and investment into the country in the area of trade, collaboration, skills development, and education.

On his part, Professor of Marketing at Lagos Business School (LBS), Uchenna Uzo, said the partnership was to revolutionise Nigeria’s marketing landscape as the field of marketing is really at a stage in Nigeria and Africa where it is about to explode in a positive direction.

“Our collective dreams painted a vivid picture of a future where ethical leadership, domain expertise, and the rich tapestry of diaspora investments converge to redefine marketing in Nigeria.”

In his remarks, he said “Thank you to LBS, Pan-Atlantic University and the Nigerian Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) for paving the way. Together, let’s channel our collective energy and ideas to foster the growth and relevance of marketing, not just in Nigeria but across the entire African continent.”
