Nigeria: Nestlé unveils eco-friendly product packaging

Nestlé Nigeria has introduced a new eco-friendly packaging for its cereal, Golden Morn, in a bid to enhance sustainability and support local economic growth.

This was disclosed by Nestle’s Category Manager, Dairy, Omofasa Orhiunu, at the “Rebirth of the King of Breakfast” event held in Lagos.

Speaking about the new development, he said “This is not just a new look, It is a testament to our commitment to supporting Nigerian farmers and reducing our environmental footprint.”

He stated that the new packaging was designed to reflect Nestlé’s dedication to sourcing ingredients locally, ensuring freshness and quality while contributing to the Nigerian economy.

“By investing in our local economy, we empower our farmers and contribute to sustainable growth,” Odunlami explained.

Also, Nestlé’s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead, Victoria Uwadoka, stated that Nestlé was also focused on supporting farmers through various initiatives, providing technical assistance and seed funding to improve their livelihoods. “Our approach emphasizes developing value chains that increase farmers’ incomes and enhance their quality of life,” she remarked.

She noted that Nestlé’s strategy was built around three pillars, which included individuals, communities, and the planet, intended to create shared value in the country.

Uwadoka added that the new recyclable packaging aligned with Nestlé’s global objectives are to minimise environmental impact and foster a circular economy.

“Nestlé is collaborating with the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University to empower young farmers through its agripreneur series. We are nurturing the next generation of innovative farmers,” she noted.

Reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting the nation’s economy, the firm’s commercial manager, Boladale Odunlami, stated, “As we unveil our new packaging, we reaffirm our commitment to nourishing Nigeria and supporting local communities.”
