MarketingWorld’s CMO of the Week:Assimi Diero of Orange Burkina Faso

Assimi Diero is a dynamic and results-driven marketing leader with over 15 years of experience in telecommunications, currently serving as the Marketing and Communication Director at Orange Burkina Faso since March 2021.

Based in Ouagadougou, Diero drives the company’s marketing strategy, brand positioning, and communication initiatives, strengthening Orange’s market leadership in Burkina Faso’s competitive telecom sector.

Prior to his current role, Diero held key positions within Orange, including MEA Content Projects Manager for Marketing & Distribution at Orange Group in Paris. There, he managed content projects across 20 countries in the Middle East and Africa, expanding the ecosystem for content and data monetization.

As Marketing Senior Manager for New Products Development and Non-Voice in Burkina Faso, Diero led the development of data, value-added services (VAS), and messaging products, achieving significant revenue growth and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) through innovative strategies and market intelligence.

Before joining Orange, Diero spent over five years at Airtel Burkina Faso, where he held roles such as Marketing Senior Manager for New Products Development and Non-Voice and High Value Retail Manager. In these positions, he drove data and VAS revenue growth, optimized product lifecycles, and enhanced customer engagement through targeted campaigns and loyalty programs. His strategic oversight of 2G and 3G site deployments and competitor analysis further bolstered Airtel’s market position.

Diero’s early career at Zain and Celtel Burkina Faso included roles such as Customer Care Support Supervisor, Know Your Customer Coordinator, and Customer Care Representative. These positions honed his expertise in customer service optimization, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making, laying a strong foundation for his marketing leadership.

With a proven track record of driving innovation, revenue growth, and customer engagement across Burkina Faso and the broader MEA region, Assimi Diero continues to elevate Orange Burkina Faso’s brand, delivering impactful marketing strategies that empower customers and fuel digital transformation.
