Airtel Kenya has launched a new campaign called “GB kwa GB,” offering free data to attract new customers to its network. The campaign, aimed at expanding Airtel’s user base, provides new customers with 1GB of free data every week for six months. To qualify for this offer, customers must top up at least Ksh. 50 weekly, making the deal both accessible and affordable. The free data, valid for three days, is designed to encourage regular usage among the new subscribers.
The GB kwa GB campaign targets a variety of customers, including new smartphone users joining Airtel, existing customers upgrading from feature phones to smartphones, and those transitioning from 3G devices to 4G or 5G smartphones. Customers can easily check their eligibility for the offer by dialing *544*8# on their Airtel line, ensuring a seamless experience for those looking to take advantage of the promotion.
Airtel Kenya has been proactive in rolling out initiatives to enhance customer experience. Prior campaigns include “Internet Mashinani,” which subsidized the cost of 4G Home Broadband devices and pocket Mi-Fi, bringing affordable internet to remote areas. Additionally, the company has introduced eSIM technology, VoLTE, and a cutting-edge 5G network, solidifying its position as a leader in telecom innovation in Kenya.
In its ongoing efforts to improve connectivity, Airtel Kenya has been rapidly expanding its network across the country. As of June this year, the company reported launching 480 new sites since the beginning of the year, with an additional 148 sites added in the past month alone. This substantial investment highlights Airtel’s commitment to delivering fast, reliable, and affordable internet services to Kenyans nationwide.
Commenting on the new data offering, Ashish Malhotra, Managing Director of Airtel Kenya stated, “The GB kwa GB campaign reflects our commitment to empowering more Kenyans to be a part of the growing digital economy. We are committed to supporting the digital inclusion agenda, but not only through investing in infrastructure, but also making it worthwhile for our customers to acquire smartphones and experience the convenience of the digital age. By continuously providing affordable data offerings, Airtel aims to bridge the digital divide and provide unparalleled access to digital opportunities.”
