Jumia Group Promotes Robert Awodu to the Position of Regional Head, PR & Communication, Sub-Saharan Africa

A Pan-African technology company that is built around logistics and payment services, Jumia Group has promoted marketing and communication specialist, Robert Awodu to the position of Regional Head of Public Relations & Communication, Sub-Saharan.

In his new position, he will be responsible for creating and executing PR strategies and media engagement across the region as well as coordinating Jumia’s regional PR efforts and establishing positive media coverage in local media.

While announcing the new role on his LinkedIn page, he said “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Regional Head of Public Relations & Communication, Sub-Saharan Africa at Jumia Group”

Robert is a performance-driven communication and marketing professional with over 8 years of experience in related roles, managing highly effective communication and marketing campaigns that supported key sales, marketing, and stakeholder engagement objectives in the e-commerce, financial services, and IT sectors.

He is known for his proven track record of executing innovative marketing campaigns and influencing cross-functional teams, as well as establishing an internal network of relationships at all levels of the organization to drive results.

Until his appointment, Robert was the Head of Public Relations and Communication of Jumia Nigeria where he was charged with the role of leading and overseeing the development & delivery of Jumia’s brand and communication strategy as well as increasing Jumia Nigeria’s brand awareness through media.

He also served at CardinalStone as the Social Media Manager and Head, Brand & Corporate Communication with the responsibility of designing and implementing social media strategies to align with business goals and also developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns and communication strategies to generate revenue and develop a greater affinity for the brand.

At Concept Group Nigeria, he served as Digital Marketing/PR Manager with the role of developing and executing digital marketing campaigns that improved brand awareness and increased revenue by 45% in 12months as well as penetrating new segments through the use of strategic marketing initiatives.

Robert holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ibadan and also specialise in Brand Management, Corporate Communication, Marketing Strategy, SEO, Digital Marketing, and Marketing Communication.
