Guinness brings Premier League trophy to Nigeria
Guinness Nigeria, in collaboration with the Premier League, announced today that the iconic English Premier League trophy will visit Nigeria, offering football fans a rare chance to see the coveted silverware up close. The three-day tour will stop in Enugu on May 16 and Lagos on May 17 and 18, marking a celebration of Nigeria’s vibrant football culture.
The tour aims to bring fans closer to the world’s most-watched football league. In Enugu and Lagos, supporters will have opportunities to interact with the trophy, take photos, and immerse themselves in the Premier League’s legacy. Both cities will also host Guinness MatchDay events, designed to elevate the football viewing experience.
These events will feature multiple viewing screens, replay and highlight zones with noise-canceling headsets, a 360-degree Guinness bar with signature cocktails, on-site jersey customization, and other fan-focused activities.
Olayinka Bakare, Marketing Director at Guinness Nigeria, emphasized the event’s significance. “Our association with football is a key platform to engage and elevate the experiences of our consumers,” Bakare said. “This is more than a tour. It’s about celebrating football’s power to unite us, delivering unmatched moments that only Guinness can offer.”
The initiative reflects Guinness Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to creating memorable experiences for its consumers, particularly the country’s passionate football community. Nigeria, home to millions of Premier League fans, has a deep connection to the league, with clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool commanding fervent followings.
The trophy tour and MatchDay events are expected to draw thousands of fans, offering a unique blend of entertainment and football fandom.
