Ghana: MTN Ghana Foundation presents hampers to mothers of 30 babies born on Christmas Day in the Western Region
MTN Ghana Foundation has presented hampers to mothers of 30 babies, born on Christmas Day at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Essikado Hospital in the Western Region.
The hampers contained diapers, blankets, wipes, shawls, towels, bibs, clothes, toiletries and other baby essentials as well as airtime worth GH¢50.00 for each of the mothers.
Also, similar donations have been held across all the regions in the country and in the Central Region, 30 nursing mothers received their package as well as 25 in the Western North Regions also had their hampers.
Prince Owusu Nyarko, Regional Senior Manager in charge of South West Business District of MTN said the gesture, has become an annual tradition to show appreciation to mothers who delivered on December 25th of each year.
Christmas, according to him is a season to show love to one another and to put smiles on the faces of these nursing mothers.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essiikado Traditional Area pointed out the mother’s needs to be appreciated.
“They carry foetus for nine months, deliver the babies with all their strength, take care of the home, children among others and this, is not an easy job. I will always join MTN in this gesture to make me feel like a new born baby” he said.
Michael Danso, Administrator at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital expressed gratitude to MTN for the distribution of hampers “A lot of mothers need these items to cater for their new borns but the hospital cannot support them because of financial constraints; this shows that you are very responsible and we pray you continue to do more”.
He appealed to MTN to consider investing in the hospital’s Maternal Health Department especially in the area of providing modern delivery beds for the mothers to be comfortable during deliveries.
Madam Alimatu Awudu, on behalf of the nursing mothers expressed appreciation to MTN for the kind gesture.
