Ghana International Bank (GHIB) appoints Kofi Akyea as its Marketing & Communications Manager

Ghana International Bank (GHIB) has appointed a renowned marketing communications professional, Kofi Akyea as its marketing & communications manager.

In his new role, as inaugural Marketing and Communications lead for GHIB plc, Kofi will be in charge of all corporate communications, revenue activity marketing support, external relations and brand management across the global GHIB footprint.

Taking to his LinkedIn page, he said, “Exciting news to share! I am thrilled to announce that I have accepted the position of Marketing & Communications Manager at Ghana International Bank. As the most storied Pan-Africa-focused trade bank operating out of the City of London, GHIB has been providing quality intermediary services to African economies, sovereigns, and large corporates since 1959. I am honoured to be a part of Team GHIB, which buzzes with a magnetic, energetic, can-do vibe that ignites my passion to make an impact.

“In this inaugural role, I am eager to bring the brand alive to key audiences and stakeholders, telling our story of leading the way in providing financial access to Africa through London and into the future. Kofi is passionate about Africa and is committed to achieving success on this continent. His skill set and experiences span all aspects of marketing strategy and brand building, with specific strengths in strategy and planning, PR and marketing communications. Kofi brings to bear his keen interest in the social sciences (particularly sociology) on business tasks, enabling him to achieve no-box solutions.

He has superior team skills, is a self-starter, switched-on and highly motivated, multicultural and at home in the world.

Before his appointment, Kofi served as the Head of Marketing, Corporate Communications and Customer Experience at Universal Merchant Bank.

He has served in different capacities at MoneyGram International where he started as Marketing Executive – Anglophone West Africa, then steadily climbed the corporate ladder to the position of Regional Marketing Manager, Africa (Anglophone)

Kofi has also served as Marketing Manager and Product Development Manager at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited. He started his career as an Account Executive at Origin8 Saatchi & Saatchi in 2005.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Ghana, an MA Global Diplomacy in International Relations from SOAS University of London and an International Relations and leadership from CSIS AILA Program.
