Ghana: Ibom Air launches regional flights with Lagos-Accra route

In a significant move to expand its presence in the West African aviation space, Nigeria’s Ibom Air inaugurated its regional operations with its maiden flight from Lagos to Accra.

The entry into this new route by the Akwa Ibom state-owned airline marks a fresh chapter in travel experiences, giving passengers a new gateway to navigate the bustling West African region. The development was received warmly by Ghana’s aviation officials.

“This reflects our trust in Ghana’s aviation prowess and showcases the considerable strides we’ve achieved in making Ghana the top aviation hub in West Africa,” remarked Kwame Baffour Awuah of the Ghana Airports Company Limited.

Dignitaries at the launch of Ibom Air’s Regional Flights

George Uriesi, the COO of Ibom Air, underlined the launch as a “strategic expansion” for the airline, in line with its vision to be a leading African regional airline known for schedule reliability and exemplary service.

“This route emphasizes our commitment to bolstering tourism, trade, and fostering stronger ties between Nigeria and Ghana,” Uriesi said.

As the airline earns praise for its stellar service, and with backing from Ghana Airports Company Limited, passengers can anticipate an exceptional travel journey.

The addition of Ibom Air in the Ghanaian skies will boost the sector, fostering healthy competition and growth, noted Daniel Acquah from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.
