Ghana: Fan Milk PLC appoints Freda Duplan as new chairperson

An indigenous leading manufacturer and distributor of dairy products and beverages since 1960, Fan Milk Plc has appointed Freda Yahan Duplan as its new chairperson to share in the responsibility for setting the company’s strategic direction, leading and influencing the company’s progress and prospects.

The new appointment takes effect immediately and coincides with Fan Milk Plc’s 63rd Annual General Meeting held at Accra City Hall.

Mrs. Duplan is joining the company at an exciting time, when Fan Milk Plc. has recently appointed a new Managing Director and declared sustainable profits adequate to pay shareholders dividends after a six-year drought.

Speaking at the AGM where Mrs. Duplan was overwhelmingly voted for as a Director and the new Chairperson, Mr. Lionel Parent commented: “I am extremely proud to announce that for the first time in six years we will be paying dividends to our shareholders, reflecting our commitment to sustainable growth in the year ending 2023. We are delighted to share this milestone with our valued shareholders and equally excited to welcome our new Chairperson, who is well-versed in Board duties across various sectors of the country. She will help us steer the affairs of this beloved Ghanaian brand committed to innovation, quality and customer happiness”.

Mrs. Duplan is a highly experienced and successful business leader with over 40 years of experience, and has a proven track record of leading and transforming organisations and teams.

Freda’s leadership style is focused on inspiring young talent to think big, take bold actions and make decisive decisions. With her expertise in leading business transformation and guiding teams and organisations through change, Freda is ready to work with other board members and Lionel Parent in steering Fan Milk Plc to sustainable volume growth.

Her strong advocacy for supporting women in the business world – which led her to co-found the Executive Women Network (EWN) – will be especially important as Fan Milk Plc strengthens its women in leadership agenda.

Freda succeeds Dr. Charles Mensa, who stepped down as a Director and Chairman of the company after two decades of dedicated service and instrumental leadership to Fan Milk Plc.
