Interswitch has announced the nine finalists for the seventh edition of its flagship STEM initiative, InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition, marking another major milestone for what has become one of Nigeria’s most respected academic contests for secondary school students.
This year’s competition attracted more than 18,000 students from across the country. Following a rigorous computer-based qualifying examination, the number was reduced to 81 candidates drawn from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Further assessments produced 27 semi-finalists, before the final selection of nine outstanding students.
The finalists are Lyon Awhaisoba of Apt Scholars Universal College, Ogun State; Naetochukwu Ochi of Jesuit Memorial College, Rivers State; Saint Riman of Adedokun International Schools, Ogun State; Emmanuel Ashaolu of Welkin International School, Ogun State; and Gbolamiga Atekoja of Heritreats Private Secondary School, Ondo State. Others are David Solomonezemma from Deeper Life High School, Enugu State; Eke David of Marist Brothers’ Juniorate, Abia State; Chukwubudem Ezeobi of British Spring College, Anambra State; and David Okorie of Caleb International College, Lagos State.
According to Brandspur Brand News, the finalists will compete for scholarships and prizes valued at over ₦35 million. The eventual winner will receive a ₦15 million tertiary education scholarship spread over five years, along with a laptop and monthly stipends. The first runner-up will earn a ₦10 million scholarship for three years and a laptop, while the second runner-up will receive a ₦5 million one-year scholarship and a laptop. Other finalists, top semi-finalists, and participating teachers will also receive cash rewards and recognition.

Speaking on the importance of the initiative, Cherry Eromosele, Executive Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications at Interswitch, said the programme remains focused on discovering and developing young scientific talent. She noted that InterswitchSPAK was designed to promote excellence in STEM education and prepare students to tackle real-life challenges through innovation and critical thinking.
The grand finale of InterswitchSPAK 7.0 is scheduled for Sunday, January 25, 2026. Viewers across the country can watch the live broadcast on DSTV Africa Magic Family (Channel 154) at 6:00pm and on AIT Network at 5:30pm.
