Nandi Mwiyombella Emerges as MarketingWorld’s CMO of the Week

Bank of Africa Tanzania’s Head of Marketing and Communication, Nandi Mwiyombella, a renowned marketing expert has been crowned as one of MarketingWorld’s top three CMOs of the week.

Appointed in the year September 2022 as the Head of Marketing and Communication for Bank of Africa Tanzania Limited, Nandi has been responsible for shaping the bank’s brand identity and communication strategy, leading innovative campaigns that resonate with the bank’s diverse customer base.

She has also been developing and executing marketing and communication strategy by providing strategic marketing, communication and citizenship support and best practices to deliver strategic business objectives.

Possessing over 17 years of experience in branding and marketing, spanning the FMCG, telecommunication, and banking sectors, Nandi has worked for leading brands such as Vodacom as Head of Brand and Communication from Jul 2016 – Jun 2021 and Mpesa. She worked at Serengeti Breweries Limited from Jul 2021 – Apr 2022 as the Head of Beer portfolio managing Beer brands including the likes of Serengeti Premium Lager & Lite, Tusker Lager, and Guinness. She has also occupied portfolios such as Marketing Manager, Consumer Insights & Strategic Planning, Manager – Sustainability & AiS, Acting Corporate Relations Director and Brand Manager – Beer, Spirits and RTD, all at Serengeti Breweries Limited.

Aside from the aforementioned, Nandi was the Business Development Manager at BlackBerries Enterprises Ltd from Jan 2007 – Jan 2009, Business Development Manager at A1 Outdoor (U) Ltd from May 2005 – Dec 2006, and Account Director at ZK Advertising Tanzania from Jan 2002 – Apr 2005. As part of her career achievement, Nandi has managed and executed successful projects in brand management, CSR, Vodacom PLC IPO, and sports and music platforms.

Notably, Nandi is a member of the bank’s Executive Committee, contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the organization. She holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from The Open University of Tanzania and multiple business, product, and marketing certifications.

She has been featured as a speaker and mentor in various live events, media startup programs, and training workshops, sharing her insights and expertise on branding and marketing.

Nandi is passionate about creating impactful and meaningful connections with audiences and empowering the next generation of marketers and communicators.

Mosala Phillips Emerges as MarketingWorld’s CMO of the Week

Old Mutual’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mosala Phillips, an experienced Marketing and Brand Commercial Strategy Executive has been crowned as one of MarketingWorld’s top three CMOs of the week.

Mosala joined Old Mutual in 2021 following more than 16 years of experience in the FMCG industry notably with Procter & Gamble. As CMO of Old Mutual Ltd (OML), he is responsible for all the marketing activities of the 178-year-old, $16.5 billion financial service company brand, which was founded in 1845.

Prior to joining Old Mutual, he was Senior Director: Brand and Commercial Head at Procter & Gamble South Africa where he was responsible for developing brand plans to grow market share, revenue and profit. He was also responsible for leading the marketing organisation, including talent management and development.

In the professional space, Mosala has extensive experience across multiple brands, including Always, Ariel, Gillette, Head & Shoulders, Vicks, Pantene, and Oral B, to name a few. He also had regional market responsibilities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has lived and worked in South Africa, Switzerland, Kenya and Ghana.

Mosala holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, and a Global Executive Program, Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services from the London Business School.

Ifeoma Agu Emerges as MarketingWorld’s CMO of the Week

Diageo Africa’s Marketing & Innovations Director, Ifeoma Agu, a CIM-trained marketing professional has been crowned as one of MarketingWorld’s top three CMOs of the week.

Appointed in the year May 2023 as Marketing & Innovations Director, Ifeoma has been in charge of managing 32 Countries across West, Central and Southern Africa – leading a diverse, inclusive and highly motivated team of game changers in the transformation of their Marketing and Innovation Strategies to harness opportunities and win in a fast-paced dynamic world.

As part of her responsibilities as Marketing & Innovations Director, she leads the Marketing and Innovation agenda through design, implementation and evolution of the portfolio strategy; spearheading innovations to achieve targeted profit, market share and business objectives, creates positive step change in marketing capabilities through internal & external programs to inspire the marketing team to remain agile in engaging consumers across our diverse markets by developing locally relevant playbooks to keep up with the fast-changing market trends & harness opportunities and as well leads Pan African Projects as it pertains to the Inclusion & Diversity (ESG) Framework for Diageo Africa PEM – inspiring brand & employer brand strategies to accelerate inclusion and diversity across all the 32 markets.

Prior to her appointment, Ifeoma has worked with notable blue chip organizations across banking, telecommunication, advertising and FMCG in Africa, occupying various positions such as the Marketing Manager for Int’l Premium Spirits & Reserve Brands, Commercial Planning & Activation Manager, Retail Development Manager at Diageo, Marketing Manager, Premium Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Senior Brand Manager- Premium Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Ag. Marketing Manager- Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Brand Manager Malta Guinness & Premium Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Channel Development Manager- Retail and Off-trade and Portfolio Strategy Manager at Guinness Nigeria.

She also served as the Customer Care Consultant at Visafone Communications Limited, Commercial Banking Executive at Guaranty Trust Bank plc (GTBank), Marketing Executive at Equinox Int’l Resources Ltd as well as Brand Executive/Project Trainee Coordinator at Zus Bureau Ltd.

Due to her proven track record of consistently delivering great performance, she has received several awards and recognition to attest to the deep sense of professionalism and responsibility she brings to her work.

Ifeoma is very passionate about managing people for success, wielding amazing relationships and building great brands. She has interests in social causes as it relates to Youth empowerment and very passionate about driving the diversity and inclusion agenda, hence she leads the progressive gender portrayal workstream for Diageo across Africa. She also leads an amazing team of talented Gen Zs and Millennials who are unlocking culture and making a difference in driving growth and sustainability for Diageo’s portfolio across Africa.

Ifeoma is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants with over 15 years vast experience and outstanding proficiency in leading successful teams, marketing strategy, trade marketing and business transformation.

She is an alumna of Harvard Business School Online where she attained a Global Business and Leadership Principles certificate from 2020 – 2020, Digital Branding and Engagement- edX Course from Curtin University, Western Australia from 2017 – 2017, Professional Certificate in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing in the year 2012 – 2013 and finally a Bachelor of Science Botany, Botany/Plant Biology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in the year 2004 – 2008.
