Barbra Arimi Teddy Emerges as MarketingWorld’s CMO of the Week

National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Uganda’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Barbra Arimi Teddy, an accomplished professional marketer has been crowned as MarketingWorld’s CMO for the week, from April 27th to May 3rd 2024.

With her career spanning over 18 years, Barbra has a proven track record across the financial services sector, fast-moving consumer goods and academia.

Currently serving as the Head of Marketing and corporate affairs at National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Barbra has been responsible for marketing planning, strategy, product development, research, brand marketing, and communications both digital and traditional amongst others of the organization.

Assuming this position in December 2014, Barbra has been spearheading the NSSF brand positioning, image, and reputation. Under her leadership, NSSF Friends with Benefits, NSSF Financial Literacy programs, and NSSF Mobile among other key projects and products were all launched. The latest is the digitalization of the old NSSF card to a multipurpose Visa-enabled card. Aside the above-mentioned, she has also built the fund’s brand and supported the delivery of the business growth objectives. Some of the initiatives she undertook included developing and supporting the implementation of product development and research, public relations, corporate social responsibility, digital marketing and brand strategies, in collaboration with her colleagues in the department.

Prior to joining the fund, Barbra served as Group Head Corporate Communications and Marketing at Orient Bank for close to 2 years. She also worked at Centenary Bank where she served as Brand Manager for over 3 years as well as the Post Bank as the marketing and sales manager from March 2006 – July 2009 where she did tremendous work.

In terms of her affiliations, Barbra is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). She is also a current board member at DFCU Group since 2019 as well as the CEO Apprenticeship Alumni Association.

Passionate about education, she holds an MBA from the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Marketing) from Makerere University.

As a business executive, her areas of expertise include marketing strategy, communications strategy, product development, brand management, research, public relations, and corporate governance.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Barbra is passionate about creating value; this entails adding value to the people she works with, which is then translated into value for customers and ultimately for the organizations that she has had an opportunity to serve. She has also sat on many juries as a judge for any award schemes notably the Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards.

Her outstanding contributions to the finance industry make her a deserving recipient of the CMO of the Week recognition by MarketingWorld Magazine.
