Kenya: Jubilee Insurance announces its Jubilee Live Free Race cycling competition

In collaboration with the Grand Nairobi Bike Race (GNBR), Jubilee Insurance has announced the third edition of the Jubilee Live Free Race, scheduled for September 29th in Nairobi.

The event, which will start at Nyayo Stadium and cover key routes such as Uhuru Highway, will draw 2,500 elite cyclists from 21 countries, including Ethiopia, Eritrea, the USA, France, and the East African Community. The race will feature six categories: a 60 km main race, 12 km family fun ride, 48 km black mamba ride, 2 km kiddies’ race, 48 km para-cycling race, and a 60 km team race for six riders.

This year’s race aims to raise awareness about the importance of health, financial planning, and sustainable practices, with a focus on demystifying insurance and its role in wellness and wealth management. The event comes at a crucial time, coinciding with Jubilee Insurance’s new thematic campaign, “There’s Living and There’s Living Free,” which seeks to enhance individuals’ understanding of investment and insurance solutions in the context of today’s challenges, including climate change, pollution, and financial instability.

Jubilee Insurance, the title sponsor for the third consecutive year, has invested Ksh. 20 million in this year’s race—Ksh. 10 million in cash and Ksh. 10 million in advertising and promotion. Since the partnership began in 2022, the company has contributed Ksh. 60 million to the event, reinforcing its commitment to promoting a well-rounded life through cycling and sustainable practices.

Speaking during the announcement of the 2024 edition, Caroline Ndungu, Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Jubilee Insurance noted, “Our brand promise is centered on enabling people to live free, and this event naturally ties in with that vision. We are excited about the third edition, not only for the platform it provides for competition and fun but also for its role in fostering conversations that inspire behavioral change and drive meaningful societal impact. We look forward to raising the profile of this event with the ambition of transforming it into a Tour de Kenya, reflecting our commitment to its continued growth and impact.”
