Coca-Cola strengthens African marketing leadership with new appointments

The Coca-Cola Company has executed a significant leadership realignment in its African marketing organisation, elevating two senior marketing executives to drive growth across key portfolios and markets.

Yusuf Murtala, a highly regarded marketing leader, has been promoted from Senior Marketing Director for Nigeria to Senior Marketing Director, Stills (Juice & Water) for Africa. He is succeeded by accomplished marketing professional Osato Evbuomwan, who takes on the critical role of Senior Marketing Director for Nigeria.

The appointments, which have taken effect internally, underscore Coca-Cola’s commitment to deepening African talent within its leadership structure while positioning experienced executives for broader continental responsibilities.

Yusuf Murtala’s Elevation to Regional Role

Murtala’s promotion marks a significant milestone in a marketing career that spans over two decades across telecommunications, consumer goods, and beverages. A Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), he joined Coca-Cola nearly eight years ago and has steadily risen through the ranks, serving in various capacities including Creative & Content Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Manager, Marketing Director, and most recently, Senior Marketing Director for Nigeria.

Osato Evbuomwan Brings Rich Multinational Expertise to Nigeria

Succeeding Murtala in the Nigeria market is Osato Evbuomwan, one of Nigeria’s most accomplished marketing executives. Evbuomwan joins Coca-Cola from Moët Hennessy Nigeria, where she served as Marketing Director, driving growth for prestigious luxury wines and spirits brands through culturally resonant and insight-driven campaigns.

Her appointment comes shortly after she was selected as a member of the Luxury Lions Jury at the 2026 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, a rare honour for a Nigerian marketer.

Evbuomwan’s career reflects a consistent track record of excellence. She began at Unilever, rising to Marketing Manager and Business Lead for the Skin Cleansing category across West and East Africa. She later held senior roles at Diageo, leading premium spirits portfolios across several African markets including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Côte d’Ivoire, before moving to Moët Hennessy
