Kenya Airways, Visa,Absa launch new Asante Global Card

Kenya Airways, Visa and Absa have jointly launched the Asante Global Card, a premium travel and lifestyle credit card that converts everyday spending into travel rewards.

The partners describe the product as the first co-branded card in Kenya to bring together an airline, a bank and a global payments network on a single platform.

Unveiled under the campaign “Let Your Life Take Off,” the Asante Global Card is aimed at professionals, frequent travellers and premium banking customers who want to earn travel and lifestyle benefits from their regular spending.

The card combines Kenya Airways’ regional and international route network, Absa’s local banking services and Visa’s global acceptance. Cardholders earn Asante Reward Points on everyday purchases, which can be redeemed across the Kenya Airways network for flights, upgrades and other travel benefits.

The name “Asante,” meaning gratitude in Swahili, reflects the rewards focus, while “Global” underscores the card’s usability on Visa’s international network.

Visa Kenya Country Manager John Njoroge said demand is rising among Kenyan consumers for products that reward existing spending and travel habits. “We are seeing strong demand from Kenyan consumers for products that reward how they already spend and travel,” he said, adding that the card responds to the needs of consumers who are earning more, travelling more and seeking greater value from their payment cards.

In addition to rewards points, the card offers complementary benefits including airport lounge access, travel and medical insurance, extra baggage allowance and SkyPriority services at participating airports worldwide. Cardholders will also gain access to selected lifestyle experiences such as golf tournaments and wine tastings, as well as discounts from shopping, dining and lifestyle partners.

A Kenya Airways representative said the card allows customers to turn everyday purchases into travel rewards that can be converted into flights, upgrades and other benefits across its network and partner airlines.

Absa noted that the partnership gives customers a single card combining travel rewards, international usability and locally issued banking services. New cardholders will receive a welcome bonus of 10,000 Asante Reward Points for Kenya Airways Signature Credit Card holders and 5,000 points for Kenya Airways Platinum Card holders.

The card features a distinctly Kenyan design. The “K” in the Kenya Airways logo has been replaced by an image of the lilac-breasted roller, Kenya’s national bird, shown in upward flight to symbolise movement and national pride.

The Asante Global Card will be available to eligible customers from a date to be announced. Applications will be accepted online through the dedicated Asante Global Card platform. Once approved and activated, cardholders will begin earning Asante Reward Points on eligible everyday spending.
