Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has renewed its partnership as the official hydration partner of the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon, extending its support for the sporting event to five consecutive years.
The fifth edition of the marathon that happened in Kasese District, with organisers continuing efforts to position the race as a globally recognised World Athletics Label Road Race.
The event has gained international recognition for meeting global race standards through certified routes, professional timing systems, enhanced race operations and participation from international athletes.
Under the renewed partnership, CCBU, a member of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa group, will provide Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water to runners competing across the 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km categories.
The hydration support will cover the race routes, which take participants from the Equator through the scenic landscapes of Kasese and the Rwenzori region.
This year’s marathon will also introduce improvements aimed at enhancing the experience of athletes and spectators, including upgraded race infrastructure, a new finish arena with expanded facilities and increased government support.
The upgrades are part of the organisers’ broader ambition to attain Gold Label status and strengthen the marathon’s position as a major sporting and tourism attraction in Uganda.
Commenting on the partnership, CCBU Managing Director Emmy Hashakimana said the marathon had evolved into an important platform for community engagement, economic opportunities and the promotion of the Rwenzori region.

“The Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon has become an important platform for bringing people together, creating economic opportunities and showcasing the beauty and potential of the Rwenzori region,” Hashakimana said.
He added that CCBU remained committed to supporting initiatives capable of creating shared value for communities while delivering positive experiences for consumers.
As part of its support for this year’s event, CCBU has invested UGX 215 million in the marathon, with the funding supporting hydration and contributing to efforts to deliver a safe and enjoyable race experience for participants and spectators.
