Kenya Airways Announces Direct Flights to London Gatwick Starting July 2025
Kenya Airways (KQ) has unveiled an exciting new chapter in its route expansion strategy with the launch of direct flights to London’s Gatwick Airport, set to commence in July 2025. This strategic move will see KQ serving the United Kingdom through two major entry points: Heathrow Airport (LHR) and now Gatwick Airport (LGW), providing customers with an additional nonstop flight option to London.
The new Gatwick flights will operate three times a week, departing Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday nights. These flights will complement the existing London schedule, increasing the frequency of flights to London to ten per week, thereby offering more flexibility and convenience for travelers.
Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Allan Kilavuka, emphasized that this development is a crucial part of KQ’s expansion strategy aimed at enhancing customer convenience. He hinted at further expansion plans, stating, “This is just the beginning of our expansion plans for the UK market.”
Mr. Kilavuka highlighted the significance of the United Kingdom for Kenya Airways and the country at large, noting, “The United Kingdom is essential and strategic for Kenya Airways and Kenya. It provides a gateway for trade, tourism, education, business, leisure travel, and diaspora connections. We are excited to add Gatwick Airport to our expansive network as it means that KQ guests now have more options in and out of the UK and a convenient schedule that suits their travel preferences.”
Gatwick Airport, located in West Sussex, England, is situated 47.5 kilometers south of Central London, making it a convenient gateway for travelers from the Southeast and South of England. Passengers flying from Gatwick will enjoy seamless connections to Kenya Airways’ extensive network through its hub in Nairobi, ensuring a smooth and connected travel experience.
This strategic expansion underlines Kenya Airways’ commitment to providing enhanced travel options and connectivity for its passengers, reinforcing its position as a leading airline in the region.
