Ghana: BIC donates 40,000 pens to students as they embark on BECE

A global brand that offers a range of products, from lighters and pens to razors, BIC recently collaborated with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to donate 40,000 pens to students as they embark on the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The donation drive covered the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions of Ghana. BIC impacted 40,000 students, putting a pen in every child’s hand, helping them complete their exams without any performance issues, and using reliable pens.

The donation drive by BIC stems from the company’s commitment to improving learning conditions for 250 million students by 2025. In Africa, BIC works with students throughout their learning journey –from the classroom until they embark on their professional journey.

George Nkonsah, Business Manager at BIC, commented: “We believe that education is the cornerstone of every community. We are committed to improving learning conditions for students in Ghana and the wider region. As a brand with education at its core, we continuously work with partners to provide students with the necessary tools to succeed today for a prosperous tomorrow.”

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Services, Dr Eric Nkanasah, said: “It’s a pleasure for us to have partnered with a purposeful brand such as BIC to help us further reach our goals in bringing education to the forefront and help students as they embark on a challenging period in their learning journey.

Providing the necessary writing tools for students is crucial for their development, self-expression, and performance.”

This donation drive is one of many initiatives that BIC leads in Africa. Stemming from its global sustainable development program, Writing the Future Together, BIC is committed to enhancing its societal and environmental footprint.

One of the main commitments of the brand is related to education. In Africa, BIC aims to empower students to reach their full potential inside and outside the classroom.

Starting from providing the necessary writing tools in the classroom, refurbishing facilities to create inspiring learning environments, unleashing students’ creativity through art competitions, and preparing youth for life after university through internships and professional opportunities.
