Nigeria: LAPO Microfinance Bank appoints Joan Adu as Public Relations Manager

One of Nigeria’s foremost microfinance institutions, LAPO Microfinance Bank has appointed communications expert, Joan Adu as its new Public Relations Manager.

In her new role, Joan will, amongst other duties be responsible for managing the image of the bank as well as be in charge of orchestrating strategic campaigns that propel the institution forward in a dynamic market landscape.

With over 13 years of immersive experience in integrated marketing communications, Joan has created a reputation for amplifying brands’ visibility and ensuring their enduring relevance in the hearts and minds of target audiences.

Prior to her appointment, she was a communications consultant at Nicole-Joan Concepts, where she wielded her expertise on multinational accounts such as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Nokia, Ford, and Google. Throughout her tenure, she crafted and executed innovative public relations initiatives, igniting successful product launches and cementing brand prominence.

As a seasoned crisis management expert, Joan has spearheaded the resolution of some crises such as Vedic Lifecare Hospital, Lekki, and the contentious dispute between Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited (CCNL) and the Consumer Protection Council (CPC).

Her involvement with the #Scale2Save initiative in collaboration with the World Savings and Retail Bank Institute (WSBI) underscores her commitment to driving impactful change. Through this program, she and her team championed inclusive financial services, empowering Nigerian women, youths, and farmers to participate in the country’s economic resurgence.

Beyond her corporate endeavours, Joan Adu is the visionary force behind Agbeke Alaso-Oke Designs, where the rich African heritage is celebrated through meticulously crafted fashion pieces and accessories.

Adu holds a Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Mass Communication from Babcock University and a Mini MBA from the International Finance Corporation. She is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
