Mercedes Benz appoints Melody Lee as its new CMO

Mercedes-Benz has appointed Melody Lee as the new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) as the company looks to adopt a more digitally focused approach to marketing.

Lee, who previously served as the Director of Brand Marketing and Advertising for Cadillac, will oversee all marketing and communication efforts for Mercedes-Benz in the US market.

Her appointment comes at a time when the auto industry is undergoing a significant transformation, with the rise of electric vehicles, autonomous driving technology, and changing consumer preferences. To stay competitive, car companies are having to rethink their marketing strategies and shift towards more innovative and technology-driven approaches.

Melody Lee is a marketing and advertising executive with more than 20 years of experience in the luxury automotive industry. Prior to joining Mercedes-Benz, Lee served as the Director of Brand Marketing and Advertising for Cadillac, where she oversaw the global brand positioning and advertising strategy for the company.

Before joining Cadillac, Lee worked for General Motors (GM) in various marketing and advertising roles, including Director of Advertising for the Chevrolet brand and as the head of GM’s Diversity Marketing team.

Lee has been recognized for her contributions to the industry, having being named as one of the “100 leading women in the North American Auto Industry” by Automotive News in 2015. She also served on the board of directors for the National Urban League, a non-profit organization focused on economic and social issues affecting African Americans and other underserved communities.

Mercedes-Benz has already made significant investments in digital marketing, including the launch of its new EQ electric vehicle brand. Lee will be tasked with further developing the automaker’s digital marketing capabilities, while also ensuring that its brand remains relevant and compelling to consumers.

Commenting on her new role, Lee said: “I am excited to join Mercedes-Benz during such a pivotal time in the company’s history. Mercedes-Benz has always been at the forefront of innovation and design, and I look forward to contributing to the development of the brand and driving growth in the US market.”

Lee’s appointment comes as Mercedes-Benz prepares to launch several new electric and hybrid models in the coming years, including the EQA compact SUV and the EQS luxury sedan. The company is also making significant investments in autonomous driving technology, and recently partnered with Nvidia to develop a new software platform for its vehicles.
