ASA Savings and Loans Limited (Weija Business Centre) has donated food items to their clients who were affected by the recent flood at Weija.
The items include bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, cartons of sardines, as well as boxes of tomato paste to support their feeding at a total cost of GH¢22,000.
Each client received five kilos of rice, a bottle of cooking oil, sardines and tomato paste.
Mr. Shah Md Abdul Wahab, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of ASA Savings and Loans Limited, at a brief ceremony explained that 131 of the company’s clients were affected during the recent flood at Weija.
“Our presentation today forms part of our corporate social responsibility programme, as well as aiming to alleviate the suffering of people affected in terms of feeding,” he said.
The Operations Manager, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Kabir; Area Manager, Pope Neequeye; and ASA Weija Branch Manager, Mrs. Evelyn Akpene Adogo, were present at the ceremony.
According to him, the company has been offering free medical screening for its clients and the communities in which it operates.
“We support the medical screening and provide free medicines, as well as distribute Insecticide Treated Nets to prevent malaria” he said.
Mr. Wahab added that in October every year, the company is involved in Breast Cancer screening.
Again, he mentioned that the company awards scholarships to clients’ children every year. Another, he said, is donations to orphanages, Special Schools, construction of boreholes, presentation of relief items to flood and fire victims, among others.
