Yahoo appoints Josh Line as CMO

Yahoo has named Josh Line as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), tasking him with spearheading the company’s global marketing strategy, brand positioning, user acquisition, and customer engagement efforts.

Line steps into a role that has remained vacant since October 2024, following the departure of former CMO Tressie Lieberman, who left to become Starbucks’ Global Chief Brand Officer. He will report directly to Yahoo CEO Jim Lanzone.

Marketing Veteran Joins Yahoo at a Pivotal Moment
Line brings a wealth of experience in brand transformation and marketing leadership. Before joining Yahoo, he served as Chief Brand Officer at Paramount Global, where he played a key role in rebranding ViacomCBS to Paramount Global. He also chaired Paramount’s Marketing Council, leading the development of marketing centers of excellence in media, production operations, marketing technology, and social strategy.

During his 14-year tenure at Paramount, Line held senior roles overseeing marketing, creative, and digital strategy at Comedy Central, Paramount Network, and TV Land. Before that, he worked in account director positions at leading advertising agencies Scratch, Droga5, and Anomaly, managing campaigns for major brands such as GM, BMW, Josh Line, Paramount Network, and Disney.

Yahoo’s CEO Praises Line’s Vision
Welcoming Line to the team, Yahoo CEO Jim Lanzone described him as the “ideal leader” to strengthen the brand at a defining moment in its evolution.

“I am excited to welcome Josh to Yahoo, where his expertise in driving brand strategy and fostering collaboration across every facet of marketing leadership will be crucial,” Lanzone said.

As Yahoo celebrates its 30th anniversary, Line expressed enthusiasm about the company’s future and its mission.

His appointment signals Yahoo’s commitment to revitalizing its brand and reinforcing its position as a leading player in the digital media and technology landscape.
