Sylvia Elsheikh takes helm as MTN Uganda’s Chief Marketing Officer

Sylvia Elsheikh has been appointed as MTN Uganda’s Chief Marketing Officer, a move hailed by CEO Sylvia Mulinge as a pivotal step in advancing the telecom giant’s digital innovation and customer engagement goals.

Elsheikh, a seasoned marketing executive with over 15 years of experience across Africa and the Middle East, steps into the role at a critical time as MTN Uganda expands its data-driven services and digital offerings.

“I’m thrilled to join MTN Uganda and work with an incredible team to shape campaigns that resonate with Uganda’s diverse market,” Elsheikh said. Her extensive background in telecommunications and FMCG, where she led transformative campaigns focused on youth engagement, customer retention, and digital adoption, positions her to drive MTN’s customer-centric vision. “Together, we’ll elevate customer experiences to new heights,” she added.

Elsheikh’s appointment comes as MTN Uganda, with over 17 million subscribers, rolls out innovations like enhanced mobile money services, AI-powered self-service platforms, and expanded rural networks.

Mulinge praised Elsheikh’s arrival as a strategic boost for the leadership team, noting, “Her expertise in brand management and digital innovation aligns perfectly with our ambition to lead Uganda into a bold new digital world.” Mulinge also highlighted the appointment’s role in reinforcing MTN’s commitment to gender equity and diverse leadership in the tech sector.

Effective immediately, Elsheikh will play a central role in MTN Uganda’s 2025 strategy, focusing on growth, innovation, and superior customer experiences, solidifying the company’s position as a leading telecom and fintech operator in Uganda.
