Samsung adds local languages to Galaxy phones in Nigeria

Samsung Electronics has reaffirmed its commitment to digital accessibility and cultural inclusivity with the launch of a new local language feature across select Galaxy devices in Nigeria.

The update enables users to operate their smartphones in Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba, making Samsung technology more intuitive, relatable, and accessible to millions of Nigerians

The feature is currently available on the Galaxy S25, A56, A36, and A26, empowering users to navigate their smartphones in the language they best understand. This move not only promotes wider technology adoption but also contributes to preserving Nigeria’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage.

To commemorate the rollout, Samsung hosted a culturally themed press conference, attended by BrandSpur News, which featured traditional music, local cuisine, and a vibrant display of Nigerian culture. Staff and guests participated in the celebration wearing traditional Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa attire, symbolizing unity and cultural pride.

Echoing this, Stephen Okwara, Head of Product Management at Samsung Electronics West Africa, noted that the update is designed to offer a seamless user experience.

“The new local language feature allows users to easily switch between Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba by navigating to Settings > Language & Input > Select Language. This update enhances smartphone usability, especially for those who prefer their native languages over English,” he explained.
