Nigeria: Airtel Africa Appoints Carl Cruz as Airtel Nigeria’s CEO

One of the leading telecommunications companies, Airtel Africa has appointed Carl Cruz as managing director and CEO of their Nigerian subsidiary, Airtel Nigeria.

This announcement came in a statement by the telecommunications company, that Cruz has been appointed CEO, succeeding C. Surendran.

The statement also disclosed that Cruz, who bagged a Bachelor’s degree in marketing management from the University of De La Salle, Philippines, would be joining the executive committee as the regional operating director, while reporting to Segun Ogunsanya, CEO, of Airtel Africa Group.

Segun Ogunsanya commented on the appointment of Carl Cruz, saying “Cruz brings to Airtel Africa a wealth of business experience, exceptional track record, and strong values”

Segun, who expressed his confidence in the ability of Cruz to deploy his wealth of expertise to contribute significantly to the company’s growth in Nigeria, added that “He has a solid record of accomplishment as a strategic and transformational business leader who thrives on problem-solving and building strong teams to deliver business growth. We look forward to working with him to steer our largest region and to deliver on our corporate purpose of transforming lives,”

Santa Cruz has held several remarkable positions in the past, some of which are Chairman and managing director at Unilever Sri Lanka, Unilever Philippines Hindustan, and Unilever India.

He has also managed strategic and directional responsibility in sales, distribution, customer and brand development, trade development and commercial engagement.
