iCaur has officially launched in South Africa, introducing two distinctive electric SUVs, the retro-inspired V23 and the tech-driven 03T, as it targets a new generation of adventurous and lifestyle-focused drivers.
The Chery-owned new energy vehicle brand enters the South African market with a strong emphasis on technology, customization, and youthful design, bringing a fresh alternative to what it describes as a largely conservative automotive landscape.
Interestingly, the brand operates as “iCar” in China but adopted the name “iCaur” internationally due to trademark conflicts with a major American technology company.
The first models available in the market are the V23 and the more premium 03T, both built with electric drivetrains, while range-extender variants are expected to join the lineup later.
The V23 is expected to retail between R550,000 and R650,000 and will be offered in both single-motor and twin-motor configurations. The single-motor version produces 100kW and is paired with a 60kWh battery, with overseas reports suggesting a driving range of up to 500km on China’s CLTC cycle.
Although built on a unibody EV platform, the V23 combines elevated ground clearance with optional all-wheel drive, giving it stronger off-road capability than a traditional crossover.
Customization is positioned as one of the SUV’s major selling points. According to Shannon Gahagan, buyers will be able to personalize vehicle wraps directly at dealerships, choosing from stickers, half wraps, or full wraps through an interactive in-store design experience.
The V23 also includes more than 20 factory-integrated mounting points, allowing customers to add accessories such as roof racks, ladders, auxiliary lighting, exterior attachments, and interior mounts directly through dealerships.
Alongside the V23, iCaur also unveiled the 03T, available in both 2WD and AWD variants. The rear-wheel-drive version features a 135kW motor powered by a 65kWh battery, while the AWD model increases output to 205kW with a larger 69.7kWh battery pack.
Performance figures show the 2WD model accelerating from 0–100km/h in 10.5 seconds, while the AWD completes the sprint in 6.5 seconds. Both models are electronically limited to a top speed of 150km/h.
Range estimates place the 2WD version at 431km per charge, with the AWD slightly higher at 436km. Both variants support DC fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

Inside, the SUVs feature premium amenities including black leather upholstery, climate control, ambient lighting, and electrically adjustable heated and ventilated front seats. The AWD version further adds a massage function and adjustable leg rest for the front passenger.
The 03T is priced at R639,900 for the 2WD version and R699,900 for the AWD model.
Both vehicles come with an eight-year or 200,000km vehicle warranty, while battery coverage extends up to 160,000km. Buyers will also receive a five-year or 100,000km service plan as part of the ownership package.
