Known as an experienced and dynamic marketing professional with over 20 years experience enabling businesses to grow and having worked in various multinational companies delivering excellence at a senior level, Georgina Gifty Mensah has turned the fortunes of Woodin International through her zeal in steering the affairs of the marketing industry effortlessly.
Appointed in June 2012 as the Marketing Manager for Woodin International, Premium African Textiles, part of the Vlisco Group, Georgina Gifty Mensah has been responsible for all marketing plans/programs and partnerships for Woodin. Taking on the mantle of leadership in the marketing department, she develops and drives key brand and marketing strategies (innovation, communication, market entry) to ensure achievement of significant short- and long-term goals. She also provides strategic direction for the sustainable and profitable growth of Woodin to support achievement of annual business goals.
Before joining Woodin International, Georgina Gifty Mensah worked at the Universal Motors Ltd as Marketing Manager from December 2010 to May 2012, she was responsible for planning, developing, and implementing marketing initiatives and activities for Volkswagen and Porsche brands of vehicles, keeping brands alive through management of brand image, brand communications, media, sponsorships, events, and marketing campaigns. She established and maintained solid working relationships with Group and manufacturer agencies including appointed creative and media agencies. She was also responsible for Market research, media monitoring, reporting and competition analysis. Business development and new market strategies implementation.
Moving on, Georgina worked as Brand & Marketing Communications Manager at Vodafone Ghana from June 2009 – August 2010 and there she developed marketing communication plans for all consumer campaigns and executed them with precision and speed to meet business and market goals.
She ensured the smooth execution of all marketing initiatives by the Corporate, Fixed and Mobile Business Units. She provided inputs for defining Market entry strategy for new products and programmes for both the mass market & the corporate market. She also ensured the effective management of communication support budget for Fixed, mobile and enterprise business units and as well coordinated activities of advertising agencies to develop advertising campaigns for Vodafone.
Other opportunities she ventured into as part of her career portfolio include being a Sales Executive at Accu Computers Ltd from October 1999 – March 2000 where she was responsible for providing good customer care service, seeking prospective customers through personal selling and telesales, making presentations during contract bidding and aided in preparing budgets/forecasts.
Also, at Onetouch, the then Ghana Telecoms’ mobile service, she was an Assistant Roaming Coordinator from November 2004 to July 2005 where she negotiated and concluded agreements to acquire roaming partners for Onetouch as well as was in charge of the management of all International Roaming partners. It is worth noting that she was a key player in the transformation of OneTouch, into a creative, animated and competitive brand.
With the above notwithstanding, she was promoted to the position of a Value Added Service Manager in the year August 2005 – May 2009 · As part of her duties, she was responsible for identifying market growth opportunities and developing marketing strategies and plans to launch products and programmes towards these opportunities, effectively monitoring and managing existing and new value-added services to meet business goals which entails sales performance, market share, awareness, and usage, worked closely with business development, technical, sales & distribution, and finance in order to ensure smooth execution of all projects and plans for all Onetouch value added services, conducted analysis of market trends and competitors’ products to provide inputs on product gaps and strategies to aid the efficient management of the Onetouch brand, conducted regular trade visits with a view to monitoring and improving brand performance, developed and communicated written briefs for use by agencies to direct their work and activities in order to generate creative concepts for growth and also oversaw the effective management of portfolio budget.
As a marketing guru, Georgina is experienced in managing marketing projects from concept to market, adopting the right strategies and tools to ensure business objectives meet actions to deliver results. Based on that, her areas of expertise include strategy development, business planning, creative conceptualization, brand management and execution of plans with the goal of building consumer relationships and experiences with brands.
Due to her vast experience in the industry, she has accrued lots of skills which include business insights, relationship building, growth strategies, strategic management, social media communications, sales and marketing, business relationship management, brand marketing, key performance indicators, customer loyalty, business-to-business (B2B), communications planning, digital marketing, presentation skills, marketing campaign management, media planning, strategic communications, strategic thinking, communication, brand awareness, budget management, brand marketing and customer service.
She attended the University of Portsmouth Business School in the United Kingdom where she obtained an MSC in Financial Decision Analysis, Accounting and Management Science in the year October 2002 – June 2004, University of Cape Coast where she obtained B.Ed Foundations, Education & Psychology in the year 1994 – 1998.
Positioning herself as a true fashion influencer in the industry, Georgina has graced so many occasions and notable amongst them is the Ghana Menswear Week 2023 held recently.
In terms of her expertise, Georgina has a professional training in customer relationship management, marketing, PR and Advertising. She also has in-depth insight and experience in marketing across the telecommunications, automobile and the fashion industries.
