
Gaming Giant King Appoints Fernanda Romano as Chief Marketing Officer for Candy Crush
Games publisher King has named Fernanda Romano as its new chief marketing officer for its mobile game Candy Crush.
The appointment of Romano, who has served as vp of marketing and global innovation for footwear company Alpargatas, the owner of the Havaianas brand, for nearly three years, will see her lead the marketing team at King, working alongside its product, commercial and growth teams.
One of the world’s most lucrative gaming titles, Candy Crush was the top-grossing gaming franchise for the year in U.S. app stores, reported Venture Beat around Activision Blizzard’s Q3 financial results released at the start of November.
Romano’s new role was announced by Fernando Machado, the CMO of parent gaming publisher Activision Blizzard, who said that he was “super excited” about her joining and added that she is “super creative and one of those people with the finger in the pulse of what is happening out there.”
Machado continued: “She has a proven track record of accelerating innovation, building great partnerships and fostering brand love” citing her work at Havaianas as an example.
“Candy is one of the largest games in the world and I can only imagine what this team will be able to do by working together,” he concluded.
Romano has worked at various agencies around the world in her career including Carillo Pastore Euro RSCG in São Paulo, Lowe New York, Lowe Madrid, JWT London, Euro RSCG Worldwide and ultimately Naked NY where she held the position of chief creative for three years from 2012.
According to her LinkedIn page, Romano replied to Machado’s announcement by stating: “Talk about a ‘sweet’ and ‘delicious’ job. Really excited to join this team and looking forward to celebrating even more success or this phenomenal brand.”
