British Airways to Add 3 More Flights to its Existing Flights Starting October 29

British Airways is set to add three (3) more flights to its existing daily London (Heathrow)-Accra-London (Heathrow) flight starting October 29, 2023.

The additional flights which will operate into London (Gatwick Airport) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, is to offer Ghanaian travelers more choice of flight times and airports.

Moran Birger, British Airways’ Head of Sales for Africa, Middle East, and South Asia said that the additional 30 percent increase in capacity is in response to increased demand on the route post COVID-19.

‘’Restoring our Africa network after the pandemic gave us an opportunity to carefully consider the routes where there was potential for growth. Accra was one of those routes’ and Africa is one of those regions’’

BA is expected to use a Boeing 777 for the new 3x weekly flights when it begins on October 29. To mark the start of the new service, the airline is offering a launch special with fares from Gatwick to Accra starting from $2,947 in Club World, and $689 in World Traveler.

The choice of Gatwick

Gatwick provides Ghanaian expats a UK holiday maker with an alternate gateway from London and premium customers as well as Gold and Silver Executive Club members can visit the airport’s recently refurbished lounges.

The new service also adds cargo capacity on the lounge, increasing opportunities for Ghanaian exporters to quickly get perishables and other goods to market through IAG Cargo, the cargo division of the international Airlines Group, British Airway’s parent company.

Throughout its 85 years plus of servicing Accra’s Kotoka International Airport, BA has endeavor to offer unmatched service on the Accra-London route.

Mr. Birger noted that the airline has spaced out its landing and departures time on the days they operate two flights starting in October, in order to ensure the UK-carrier is always on time.

The new flights will depart Accra at 21:20 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays landing into Gatwick at 04:00. BA’s daily Accra -London Heathrow flights will remain unchanged.
