
Joy Amaka Tim-Ayoola: Making Impact on Sales as Group Head of Samsung Mobile Experience West Africa
Joy Amaka Tim–Ayoola is an accomplished sales and marketing professional currently serving as the Group Head of Samsung Mobile Experience West Africa. A key part of her role involves giving consumers different ways to connect and the freedom to make experience exactly how they want it with smart devices
Her impact and outstanding performance in the industry, has earned her The Africa Sales Leadership Award in Mobile & Electronic Devices at the recently concluded 12th Marketing World Awards held in Nairobi Kenya.
As a seasoned executive, Joy brings a wealth of experience to her role, having successfully navigated the ever-changing landscape of the mobile industry. Her journey is not just a chronicle of professional achievements but a testament to resilience, adaptability, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Joy’s role as Group Head goes beyond the traditional boundaries of sales and marketing; it encompasses shaping the mobile experience for users across diverse cultures and markets. Her strategic vision and leadership style have not only contributed to the growth of Samsung in the region but have also set new benchmarks for the industry.
Her career in Samsung started as the Head of Retail in 2021. During that era, some of her major wins in the role was expansion/visibility of Samsung presence in +72 new retail stores Pan Nigeria within 7 months kick off. In the Northern part of Nigeria, where Parallel import was 45%, Joy, with her retail team, they gained 50% of the parallel import Partners Capital to purchasing Samsung genuine in-country products.
In 2023, she and her team doubled the sales of the foldable devices during it preorder phase by strategically focusing on loyal consumers and driving master class sessions across key cities.
This resulted to being the top Africa country to flagship sales contribution in Samsung Central Africa Cluster.
As Group Head, her goal is to increase Samsung’s Market share in West Africa. This has birthed 2 Local distributors in Nigeria in the North and Eastern part of Nigeria where white spaces will plunge revenue growth for the brand. Today, with her team, she is driving sales in the wholesale channel in Togo, Chad and upcountry in Nigeria through 25 Sub-Dealers.
Prior to her role, Joy Amaka was the Customer Marketing Manager West Africa at SC Johnson. In this role, she projected the company’s brand as the top leading and preferred pesticide product.
Joy Amaka also worked in Unilever Nigeria for over decade. Her experience spanned across Sales, Product category forecasting, Marketing, and Operations.
She has a certified background in Organizational Leadership obtained at the University of Samsung Electronics from September 2023 to November 2023, a leadership course on Strategy, Influence and Execution. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Madonna University in 2005. In 2012, she pursued and attained a Master’s degree in Information Technology at the University of Lagos. These educational achievements have equipped her for the exceptional roles she currently fulfills in her substantive position.
She is highly skilled in B2C, B2B Marketing strategy, Forecasting, Demand & Supply resolution, and Budget management. Throughout her career life, she has demonstrated strong leadership skills through effectively managing teams across the departments, third party agencies, cross functional key stakeholders, and country category business teams to deliver business strategies.
Her strong passion for problem solving fuels her ambition for growth. She takes pride in impacting the lives of those that are in need.
