Mwinda Kiula joins Rand Merchant Bank as Executive Head of Marketing and Communications: Treasury and Trade Finance Solutions

A renowned marketing expert, Mwinda Kiula has joined Rand Merchant Bank as its Executive Head of Marketing and Communications: Treasury and Trade Finance Solutions

In this new role, she will be responsible for transforming RMB Business and Marketing & Communications Strategies into integrated and dynamic Marketing and Communications Go-To-Market Approach that drives growth and enable financial performance and market share while accelerating growth for its clients.

Prior to her new position, she was the Head of Marketing Corporate Transactional Banking at Absa Group where her primary role was to position innovative, efficient, and secured solutions for clients through positive demonstration of their business award-winning capabilities and deep specialist expertise to enable business origination and sales by creating strategic platforms for client and colleagues engagement.

Speaking about her transformative journey, Mwinda said “My career chapter at Absa Group has come to an end. It was a beautiful, exciting and learning journey. I thank the organisation for the opportunities and challenges that shaped my career.  I have truly enjoyed working with awesome, talented and dynamic individuals. I will cherish great memories and friendships developed along the way.

The most exciting chapter has been in the years I spent at Absa Corporate and Investment Banking. It was insightful, challenging and fulfilling chapter.

The wealth of experience gained for both Pan Africa and Global/International B2B banking has been phenomenal, therefore it will enable me position Rand Merchant Bank to greater heights.” She added

Mwinda is an independent, practical, and driven executive with a passion for Marketing, Brand/Reputation Management, and Customer Relationship Management with a creative, analytical, and data-driven mindset. Driven by leading value-creating marketing (digital and mobile channels) and commercial programs that deliver sustainable business results, Mwinda has experience in both retail and wholesale marketing and group-wide communications in diverse industries and emerging markets, with a particular focus on Africa.

She has a well-established experience in working with local, regional, and global organizations. She also has the ability to work in diverse and complex cross-functional projects/teams in a rapidly changing business environment while delivering local, regional and global programs effectively through collaboration and partnering.

In terms of her education, Mwinda is a proud alumnus of the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika where she obtained her MBL (MBA) – Masters in Business Leadership, Marketing Management from 2003 – 2005.

She also has an Advanced Business Project Management from Wits Business School, Certificate of Digital Marketing from Stellenbosch University, Certificate of Public Relations from the University of Cape Town and BA, International Relations & Marketing Management from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM).
