MTN Ghana will be giving over GH₵120,000 to five startup hubs who will emerge winners at the MTN Ayoba MoMo accelerator competition, come 30th December, 2022.
This competition has been created by MTN Ghana and Ayoba for all startup hubs across the country to bring forward their digital solutions by leveraging Ayoba App to grow their businesses.
The digital team of MTN Ghana as part of the competition organized roadshows in Takoradi, Kumasi, Tamale and Accra to brief interested participants on details of the competition.
Speaking to journalists during the road show in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, a representative of Chief Digital Officer, Dario Bianchi, Estelle Wellington, noted that the competition was carved for the youth to ensure they drive the future with digital activities.
“This is a competition that has been created by MTN and Ayoba for all the startup businesses that we have in our various regions and tech developers at tech hubs because we believe that the youth is the future and we want to use digital to drive the future.
The main objective of this is to push local businesses to leverage Ayoba as a platform to drive growth for both young businesses and to drive their services and products to customers outside,” she said.
Ms. Wellington added that interested tech hubs should have a working web app to be able to enter the competition. They would then be given a two-week intensive training programme with various people in the technology space. They would also be taken through business development programmes and modules, among other things.
At the end of the training, participants will also have the opportunity to submit their apps, and these apps will be taken through reviews and assessment. MTN Ghana and Ayoba will choose the top five apps under the following categories namely: ‘Most liked app’ with the winner taking away GH₵20,000; ‘Experts choice’ with winner taking home GH₵20,000; Best MoMo Solution winner also being awarded GH₵20,000; Top ayoba Influencer also getting GH₵20,000 and the Top Tech Hub award winner will be getting the ultimate price which is GH₵50,000.
All winners will get certificates, souvenirs from MTN Ghana and Ayoba, including an opportunity to put their apps on Ayoba platform which has over 2.1 million active customers in Ghana and 10 million in Africa.
