Kevin Sang Emerges as MarketingWorld’s PR Personality of the Week

Kenya Power’s Head, Corporate Communications & Social Impact (Ag.), Kevin Sang, a phenomenal communications practitioner has been crowned as MarketingWorld’s PR Personality of the week, from May 27th to June 3rd 2024.

With over a decade of experience in the industry, Kevin is a results-driven, self-motivated, and resourceful communications specialist with extensive experience, and domain knowledge in developing and implementing policies and strategies that enhance the effectiveness of organisational communication, stakeholder engagements, and reputation management.

Appointed in the year December 2015 as the Head of Corporate Communications & Social Impact (Ag.) for Kenya Power, Kevin has been at the forefront of managing and enhancing the company’s public image and reputation through effective communication strategies and social impact initiatives.

In this esteemed role, some of his responsibilities include: leading the development and implementation of the overall communication strategy in alignment with organizational goals and objectives, providing strategic guidance and direction to subordinate staff within the communications department, ensuring cohesive and effective teamwork, serving as the primary liaison between the communications department and senior management, conveying key insights, updates, and recommendations, overseeing crisis communication planning and response, ensuring the organization is prepared to effectively manage and mitigate reputational risks, and driving continuous improvement and innovation within the communications function, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.

Aside the aforementioned, he also collaborates with other departments, such as marketing, HR, and legal, to ensure consistency and alignment in messaging and communication efforts, develops and manages the communications budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve departmental objectives, represents the organization at external events, conferences, and speaking engagements, enhancing the company’s visibility and reputation, monitors and analyzes communication metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts and inform future strategies, and serves as a key advocate for the organization’s brand and values, both internally and externally, fostering a positive and cohesive organizational culture.

Prior to his current appointment, he was the Corporate Communications Officer for Kenya Power from September 2007 to November 2015.

He was also the Customer Engagement Officer at Equity Bank Limited from October 2006 to August 2007.

In terms of his education, he holds a Master of Arts (M.A.), in Development Communication from Daystar University as well as BA-Communication & Media from Maseno University from 2002 to 2006.

His outstanding contributions to the energy industry as a communications practitioner make him a deserving recipient of the PR Personality of the Week recognition by MarketingWorld Magazine.
