Ghana: Ecobank Ghana partners with National Lottery Authority to relaunch the Double Salary Promo

A member of Ecobank, the leading pan-African bank with 1,200 branches across 33 countries, Ecobank Ghana has partnered with the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to relaunch the Double Salary Promo that aims at offering salaried workers an opportunity for additional income.

Speaking at an event to re-launch the promo, which will last between May and July this year, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director Edward Botchway said the move was made in part due to the previous campaign’s success – which was introduced in 2022 to minimise the pandemic’s impact and related constraints on the bank’s customers.

“This is an improvement on the product that we launched last year. Last year was good, and we expect this year to be better. We have rolled-out different products for different categories of customers, and we believe this is timely for a segment of our customers” he said, adding that customers could triple and even quadruple their monthly salaries during this run.

Mr. Botchway explained that during the promo’s first edition, 240 Ecobank customers doubled the value of their pay cheques across three draws. This was in addition to other consolation prizes.

This year’s iteration will also play out across three draws, and the NLA has been engaged to ensure transparency and equity.

“The process of selecting winners, which is entirely by random selection in a draw, is held under strict supervision of officials from the NLA,” he stated.

The Ecobank Director noted that a prospective participant’s salary must pass through an Ecobank salary account, at least once, during the promo’s three-month run to be considered eligible.

Touching on the benefits of Ecobank’s dedicated salary account, he explained that it was designed to satisfy the unique needs of fixed-income workers. He noted there are two types of accounts available, which are the Advantage Salary Account and Classic Salary Account.

This custom account offers more benefits compared to other traditional accounts, giving customers more value for their money. Account holders are said to be entitled to several benefits including free life insurance, the ability to save as they spend, a free debit card, no minimum balance, no card maintenance fee, as well as mobile and Internet banking services, he added.

As is the bank’s custom, he said, Ecobank will not call winners asking for sensitive information such as passwords and personal identification numbers (PINs) in order to access their winnings.

“In the last few months, we have seen a lot of fraud activities across the country, with fraudsters calling bank customers. The point we are making is that for this promotion there will be no requirement for anybody to give their password or any other sensitive details… Even without a call, our customers will see that the funds have reflected in their accounts. Any calls for sensitive details will definitely not be from the bank,” he explained.

On the NLA’s part, an official expressed his outfit’s readiness to ensure that the promo’s credibility is maintained.
