FirstBank has announced the appointment of Olayinka Thomas Ijabiyi as the substantive Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, with immediate effect.
The confirmation of Ijabiyi, who had been serving in an acting capacity since December 2024, strengthens the Bank’s leadership team and underscores its commitment to strong corporate governance as it advances its growth and transformation agenda.
Olayinka Ijabiyi brings over 25 years of extensive experience in marketing and corporate communications. His career spans financial services, telecommunications, media, and international development sectors, with a strong track record in brand transformation, strategic visibility, and stakeholder engagement.

He joined FirstBank in 2011 and has held several leadership roles within the Marketing and Corporate Communications Department, including Head of Brand Strategy and Special Projects, Head of Digital Marketing, and Head of Brand and Stakeholder Management.
In his new role, Ijabiyi is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and corporate communications strategies across the FirstBank Group. He oversees brand and reputation management, executive positioning, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives, as well as strategic communications efforts aligned with the Bank’s business objectives.
