Dophil Roofing System, Societe Generale launch ‘Roof Now, Pay Later’ initiative

Dophil Roofing System, in conjunction with Societe Generale, have launched a new initiative to provide affordable roofing for building projects of public servants.

The consumer credit programme dubbed, ‘Roof Now, Pay Later’ aims to provide high-quality roofing to salaried workers whose building projects have been halted owing to financial constraints.

This credit mechanism would allow public-sector workers and Societe Generale customers to complete their roofing projects while spreading payments over a one-to-three-year period.

Dr Kwaku Agyapong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Dophil Group of Companies, speaking at the launch in Accra, highlighted the difficulties that workers experience when roofing their construction projects.

“Today marks a milestone in Dophil Roofing System’s journey, as we strive to extend our commitment to excellence and innovations in the building industry. Our vision has always been clear: to provide the highest quality roofing solution to Ghanaians across the country. We have a firm commitment to supporting and empowering our customers to achieve their dream of building strong, beautiful, and sustainable homes,” he said.

Dr Agyapong further added that putting a roof over one’s head should not be a burden, as they were poised to salvage the financial plight of government workers.

“This initiative will allow our valued clients, particularly government workers, to complete their roofing projects without immediate financial constraints and instead to enjoy flexible payment terms between one and three years,” he added.

Mr Ouzzani Hakim, Managing Director of Societe Generale, in a speech read on his behalf, said the partnership marked a significant milestone to providing exceptional financial services to the Ghanaian public.

“In partnership with Dophil, we are thrilled to introduce the novel ‘Roof Now, Pay Later’ product designed to assist our customers to achieve their dreams of home ownership.

“We understand the emotional and financial significance that comes with purchasing a home, and we are committed to making this journey as seamless and rewarding as possible for our customers,” he emphasized.

Dr Daniel McKorley, CEO of McDan Group of Companies, who chaired the occasion, reiterated the stress workers go through in completing their housing projects due to high-cost building materials.

He also lauded Dophil Group for this special initiative to roof buildings for workers, but urged them to initiate policies that would help low-income earners to start building from scratch.

“The rising cost of building materials has made it difficult for salary workers to complete their houses, so this initiative would help them complete their houses while escaping issues of inflation,” he stated.

Dr Kwabena Otoo, the Deputy Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress, said, “Housing for workers has been one of our major priorities. And this initiative by Dophil and Societe Generale matches our priorities, so we would support it because it is a good initiative.

“I will encourage that we work together to explore avenues to ensure that workers get support right from the foundation because to get to the roofing stage is not even easy,” Dr Otoo noted.
