Vivo launches the X60 and X60 Pro in the market

Vivo has debuted its X60 and X60 Pro in China as disclosed to the public. These new flagships share the same 6.56-inch FHD 120Hz AMOLED display, only slightly marred with a central punch-hole for their selfie cameras.

Then again, this display has apparently been developed specially for enhanced sunlight visibility with the panel’s maker Samsung. The X60s’ 5nm processor has also famously been supplied by the same OEM. The vanilla and Pro variants differ in terms of their rear cameras.

Their predecessors the X50s became known as the “gimbal” phones in 2020, and Vivo has continued this in their new generation. The X60 Pro’s main shooter is the f/1.5 Sony IMX598 sensor that supports this moniker in that it has the OEM’s 4-axis OIS.

It is joined by an 8MP f/3.4, 5x periscope lens, a 50mm 13MP 2x zoom lens, and another 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree FOV that can also focus on subjects from just 2.5cm away. Therefore, it may be an improvement on the inclusion of those 2MP macro sensors that made up so many numbers throughout 2020.

The X60, on the other hand, lacks the 8MP periscope lens, but retains similar rear-panel looks to its Pro sibling. Then again, it has a pearly-white color option in addition to the black or purplish gradient choices also available for the more premium variant. Finally, the X60 Pro has a 4300mAh battery compared to 4200mAh in the vanilla model.

It starts at 3498 yuan (~US$536) for its base 8/128GB SKU, or 3,798 yuan (~$582) to double its internal storage. The X60 Pro only comes in 12GB/256GB flavor, and goes for 4,498 yuan (~$689).

They are available for pre-order right now…however, some consumers might want to wait for the heretofore-unheard of X60 Pro+ model. It will swap the 1080 for the Snapdragon 888, and will be unveiled by Vivo by the end of January 2021.
