Zizwe Awuor Vundla Emerges as MarketingWorld’s CMO of the Week
Safaricom Limited Plc’s Director of Brand and Marketing, Zizwe Awuor Vundla, a seasonal marketing pundit has been crowned as MarketingWorld’s CMO for the week, from May 18th to May 24th 2024.
Appointed effective February 1st, 2023 as the Director of Brand and Marketing at Safaricom, Zizwe has been in charge of providing strategic leadership from a market and product perspective to the overall Safaricom brand, including M-PESA, Safaricom Business, and the company’s foundations.
She oversees the brand, ensuring its maintenance and development by creating a comprehensive strategy and structure. Upon assuming this role, Zizwe has been the custodian of the brand, maintaining and evolving them by devising their overall strategy and architecture.
Zizwe brings 18 years of Brand and Marketing experience to the company, having previously served as the Head of Marketing and Innovation at Diageo in South Africa since 2019.
Before joining Diageo, Zizwe spent 15 years at Proctor and Gamble, starting as an Assistant Brand Manager in 2004 and advancing through various Brand Management roles to become the Head of Marketing and Commercial in South Africa in 2015.
Notably, Zizwe Vundla is the creator of the ‘Mwosho Mmoja’ campaign that P&G still uses as ‘One wash’ campaign, globally. One achievement she is also proud of is starting a gender equity programme at P&G that earned her recognition regionally and took her to India for a UN conference on women.
Outside work, Zizwe is a sociable person who loves to spend moments with her friends. She is also an ardent traveler.
Zizwe holds a Bachelor of Business Science, Marketing/Marketing Management, General from the University of Cape Town from 1999 to 2003.
Her outstanding contributions to the telecom industry make her a deserving recipient of the CMO of the Week recognition by MarketingWorld Magazine.
